
Annika Lopes is a Certified Child Life Specialist with over a decade of experience at Boston Children’s Hospital. In her role as a Child Life Specialist II, she supports patients and families on the hematology/oncology unit by helping children understand and process their diagnoses, develop effective coping skills, and maintain developmental progress throughout hospitalization.
Annika is a leader within both her department and the hospital and actively contributes to interdisciplinary committees and initiatives, with a particular focus on bereavement, pain management, and coping support.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Simmons University and a Master of Science in Child Life and Family-Centered Care from Boston University (formerly Wheelock College). Annika is deeply committed to improving the hospital experience for children and families by fostering collaboration and communication, reducing fear and pain, promoting positive coping strategies, and empowering children to gain a sense of mastery and control over their healthcare journey.
