The purpose of this policy is to provide acupuncture therapy to children, adolescents and young adults in a safe, consistent and comfortable manner. Acupuncture therapy describes a family of procedures involving the stimulation of anatomical points on the body using a variety of techniques which may include needle insertion, manual needle stimulation, digital pressure, massage (tuina), magnet application, electrical stimulation, laser stimulation, cupping and use of heated herbs like mugwort (Moxibustion).
